My Big “Why”
for Being In Business
In an industry racked with mediocrity, in which broken promises are the norm, my team and I are on a mission to raise the bar, through example and service, by providing rental property owners with hassle-free rental ownership that makes sense financially.
My name is John Michailidis, and I am the owner of Real Property Management of Sarasota & Manatee, an independently owned franchise office of Real Property Management, Inc. We serve rental property owners and tenants throughout Sarasota and Manatee counties, Florida, by providing residential property management and leasing services.
People go into business for many reasons — to provide for the family, to buy material things, to provide meaningful employment opportunities to others. The primary reason that I am in business is as simple and straightforward as it is exceedingly rare in our culture: to further God’s kingdom through example and service.
I completely understand that telling this truth is risky in our culture, where overt Christ-followers are often vilified, persecuted, and openly ridiculed for our beliefs. That’s okay. “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15)
Unfortunately, those who do not know Jesus Christ often distort the true meaning of his message, which was simple, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Mark 12:31.)
So, does this mean that we are the perfect property management company? No. Does it mean that we never make a mistake? No. Does it mean that we are not fallen people with all of the same foibles and shortcomings that other equally human beings have? Of course not. As human beings, we are no better than anyone else.
All it means is that we have an obligation to try really hard to do right and that we are forgiven when we fall short. It also means that we use our money to help others, through such organizations as City Commit, Gator Wilderness Camp, Compassion International, Operation Give Back, The Pacific Justice Institute, and Grace Church 941.
I understand that this is my personal belief and that others do not hold the same belief as I. I personally feel very uncomfortable when someone tries to “beat me up” with their beliefs, which is why I am very conscious never to do that. My motto is “live-and-let-live” — you do your thing and I’ll do mine, and hopefully we can both agree to accept each other as we are, and in love.
A true Christ-follower comes to learn over time that all are the beloved children of God — black, white, straight, gay, married, unmarried — all are deserving of the truth and love of Jesus Christ.
Integrity and transparency are necessary for any relationship to last, so as I seek to build relationships with our owners, tenants, vendors, and the community at large, I thought it only fair to put my beliefs out there. After all, it’s the very reason why I am in business.
This particular web page is extremely personal to me — it reflects my heartfelt view on the thing that drives me personally as a business owner — and does not necessarily reflect the views of the franchisor, Real Property Management, Inc., nor of individual employees.
