Real Property Management of Sarasota & Manatee Hanukkah 2015
We here at Real Property Management of Sarasota & Manatee wish to extend a hand of fellowship and love during this Hanukkah 2015 season, which this year falls between December 6th and December 14th. Many outside the Jewish faith are unaware of the meaning of Hanukkah, so here’s a basic primer . . .
The word “Hanukkah” means “re-dedication” and it commemorates a particular event during a time when oppressed Jews rose up against their foreign, oppressor king. Most everyone knows the story of how one day’s worth of lamp oil miraculously kept the lamps burning for a full eight days (thus the eight days of Hanukkah) but somehow the details are lost to most. The miraculous event was preceded by three years of revolt whereby the Jewish rebels ousted their Greek/Syrian King who had desecrated the sacred temple. Upon their triumph, the rebels sought to rededicate the desecrated temple, but only had one day of the sacred oil needed for the 8-day re-dedication process.
The fact that the one day’s worth of oil lasted for a full eight days is seen to this day as a sign of God’s faithfulness to the restoration of those who seek and obey him.
God bless you all
