Deadly African Nile Crocodiles In Florida!

This is great!  Just great!  As if we property managers didn’t already have enough to deal with, now deadly African Nile crocodiles in Florida are an issue!

According to an article appearing in the Orlando Sentinel, “Researchers have confirmed that three Nile crocodiles were captured near Miami, and they say it’s possible more of the man-eating reptiles are still out there, although no one can say for sure.”  In their native Africa, Nile crocodiles are responsible for upwards of 200 human deaths a year, and are also known to regularly attack livestock.

While the three African crocs found in Florida since 2009 do not constitute a widespread invasion of the species into our area, the question still remains as to how exactly they got here — researchers are at a loss for a verifiable answer.
